Daiki Kiwada Sensei (7 Dan, Renshi / 2012 All Japan Champion / 2009, 2012 World Champion Team Division) from Osaka Police will be visiting Canada from Sep 30th – Oct 11th. Kiwada Sensei’s visit is made possible largely by the relationship between Chuo University and the University of Toronto. He will be visiting Montreal / Toronto / Vancouver. Kiwada Sensei’s Toronto Keiko Schedule (Oct 1-6) is as follows: As this will be the first keiko for Kiwada Sensei in Canada, we would like to take this opportunity to have Kiwada Sensei get an understanding of the level of Kendo in Canada. He will thus observe keiko in the beginning and then join motodachi-geiko. This practice is open to all who are able to attend. This practice will be shiai-geiko followed by motodachi-geiko and is open to all who are able to attend. Practice will be motodachi-geiko and is open to all who are able to attend. This will be a motodachi-geiko practice open to all who are able to attend. Following this practice, there will be a further session from 8:00~10:00 p.m. for Team Canada members only. Schedule is subject to change and updates will be posted on the Kendo Ontario website, Facebook page and Twitter. There is no class on Thanksgiving Monday, October 9, 2017. Class will resume the week after! Kendo grading up to 7 dan will be held Nov 26 at JCCC, with registration at 8:30 and grading at 9 pm. As in previous years there will be two panels, so senior people do not arrive late. Iaido grading up to 5 dan will be held Dec 2 at Etobicoke Olympium, with registration at 12 noon and grading at 1 pm. Registration is now open for both gradings. Written exams will be released soon. Western grading is to be announced, tentatively planned for the weekend of Dec 2-3 for both disciplines. NEW MEMBERS WELCOME! Welcome back, everyone! Class will start again on Monday, September 11, 2017, 7:30 to 9:30 pm as before. (Fees will be due on September 25th practice.) The Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF) invites you to join us this August for the 19th Canadian National Kendo Championships to be held at the Pan Am Centre in Markham, Ontario. The event will take place across two days, with expanded format to make a truly national tournament. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to learn, challenge yourself and reconnect with fellow kendoka from across the country. In doing so, we hope to promote Kendo across Canada and to strengthen the bonds of our community. From coast to coast, this program will promote our martial art and make it worthy of the spirit of tolerance and sharing of Canadian kendo.
